Trump Media & Technology Group, the parent company of Truth Social, has reported a significant financial loss of $238 million in the second quarter. This comes as the company redirects its attention back to its core social media operations after having ventured into cryptocurrency and other areas. Despite the loss, the company’s revenue for the quarter reached $1.7 million, more than doubling what it earned during the same period last year.

Under the leadership of its new CEO, Kevin McGurn, Trump Media is set to refocus its resources on enhancing its social media platform while also pursuing selected initiatives, such as its proposed merger with nuclear fusion company TAE Technologies. This strategic shift marks a renewed commitment to its foundational business amidst previous diversifications.

In a move to generate additional revenue, Trump Media has launched the Truth API, a subscription-based service aimed at financial firms. This service provides early access to posts by Donald Trump and other notable users on Truth Social. Priced between $60,000 and $100,000 per month, the service has already attracted ten customers, mainly consisting of high-frequency trading firms.

Financially, by the end of the quarter, Trump Media maintained over $400 million in cash and short-term investments, alongside approximately $1.2 billion in bitcoin and related assets. However, the company also carries a substantial debt burden, with about $1 billion in convertible notes due to mature in 2028.
